FAQs
Q: What age does my child need to be to attend?
A: Children must be at least 6 weeks old by the first day of care.
Q: How many children do you care for right now?
A: There is currently just 1 child in my care, which is my 6-year-old son. He is home-schooled and will always be here to play with other children. Note that there will never be more than 3 children in my care.
Q: What kinds of foods do you serve ?
A: I can't list them all here! Please take a look at our sample menu. But I would like to note that I do not serve anything to kids in my care that I would not serve to my own family. All foods served to children are as natural and organic as possible. I shop at Whole Foods, Fresh & Easy, Trader Joe's and the Tuesday afternoon Sherman Oaks Farmer's Market. As much as possible, I try to stay away from unnatural dyes and HFCs and we rarely eat meat.
Q: Do you assist with potty training ?
A: Yes. Children who show readiness for toilet learning will be introduced to the bathroom in my home.
Q: Will you be allowing any one else into your home while my child is in your care?
A: Parents are always welcome during childcare hours. The only other people in the home may be my husband and our children. Any home maintenance will be done outside of childcare hours, unless it is an emergency (i.e. water or gas leaks).
Q: My baby needs to be rocked to sleep. I don't want her to ever cry before naps. Will you rock my baby before each nap?
A: I understand that all babies have their own sleep schedule and routine for going down. Children will never be left to "cry it out", but also realize that your child may surprise you by their behavior in childcare. What is normal for them at home, is not always the norm in childcare.
Q: How many children do you have of your own ?
A: Three. I have a 6 year old son, and step-daughters that are 17 and 18 years old.
Q: Do you have pets ?
A: We have two frogs, two turtles, and one chihuahua mix (Rudolph). Caged pets are for looking and not touching. The dog has all of his shots and loves children, but is afraid of his own shadow and strange adults. He will be locked up during pick ups and drop offs, but he will be out while we are playing, and he goes on walks with us and to the park.
